Spox: Investigators complete Norilsk oil spill negligence case

MOSCOW, Feb 12 (PRIME) -- Russian investigators have completed investigation of a criminal case on negligence during elimination of a oil product leak in Norilsk, spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said on Friday.

"Investigation of a criminal case against Denis Kulayev and Vyacheslav Ivashchenko is completed. They are accused of the crime of negligence,” Petrenko said.

“The case has been filed to the Russian Federation Prosecutor General's office in order to decide on the accusation report approval and further sending to court for consideration on merits."

A fuel tank at Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company, part of Norilsk Nickel group, lost pressure on May 29, 2020 and leaked out 21,000 tonnes of fuel and lubricants into the river Ambarnaya, causing a fire.
